The word Arevare has a funny ring to it in Marathi. That there is a village by this name and it is blessed with a heavenly seashore with a clear view for miles across the blue waters was not known to many. But thanks to the new, shorter road being built to connect Ratnagiri and Ganpatipule, Arevare has found a place for itself on the tourism map of Konkan. At Arevare, the road travels past a 100 feet high cliff, below which sea waves lap ferociously without pause. In fact, the road hugs the seashore for a length of some 7 - 8 Km. As of now, there are no amenities available and tourists are greeted only by diving sea gulls and barren cliifs. If getting away from the urban mayhem is on your mind, Arevare has just the right touch of edgy adventure to it. The location looks tailor-made for picturisation of DHOOM III or even BAYWATCH. So wroom up, guys!! Unadulterated excitement awaits you...!!
The road is ideal for both, a high-speed drive or just a lazy amble for a mile or two - depending on the kind of person you are. But avoid the place between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. as it gets quite warm. Wannabe sunbathers will also love the beaches that extend either side of the hill. There are no water-sports facilities at the spot right now,. But given the location, it is just a matter of time before these come up.
A new road has been constructed from Ganapatipule to Ratnagiri and while driving you will see this scenic beach.
